Wife Of Vietnam Vet Wants Community To Remember Her Husband’s Patriotism

RANDOLPH – The wife of a late Vietnam War Veteran from Western New York says she wants the community to remember her husband’s patriotism while driving over a bridge dedicated in his memory.

Over the weekend the I-86 bridge over School House Road in the Town of Randolph was formally dedicated the “Sergeant David Lockwood Memorial Bridge.”

Sgt. Lockwood was awarded several military honors during his service, including three Silver Stars, the third-highest military combat decoration.

The dedication carries a special meaning to his wife of more than 50-years Patricia Lockwood, who says before her husband was drafted in 1967, he helped build the very bridge now named in his memory.

When asked what she wants the community to remember about her husband, Lockwood explained, “that he loved America, that he loved his family, and that he loved his hometown, and I think that having this as a sign of that would have been very important to him.”
