CASSADAGA – A WNY News Now storm chaser captured a funnel cloud amid a tornado warning issued for parts of northern Chautauqua County on Friday evening.

The warning was in place from about 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.  A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Mayville, or 12 miles southwest of Fredonia, moving northeast at 25 mph with radar indicated rotation.

Among locations in the warned area was the Village of Cassadaga, where storm chaser Mitch Bellinger captured a funnel cloud along Route 60 at Three-Legged Hill.

Even though a tornado warning was issued for that area around 6 p.m. a touchdown was not confirmed.
