Jamestown Mayor Highlights JFD Improvements In Budget Presentation

JAMESTOWN – Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist filled his 2022 executive budget proposal with numerous areas of improvement for city departments, including some with the Jamestown Fire Department.

Sundquist, during his recent presentation, detailed his ideas to improve and renovate the firehouse. Those ideas include truck room floor renovations, the securing of backup generators and the purchase of new overhead doors.


The Mayor additionally explains that the department requested the implementation of a city wide Knox Box system. He says that the fire department would be able to enter a commercial building easier in the event of a fire or other emergency.

According to the Mayor’s tentative budget, at least $1,218,000 in capital project improvements for the Fire Department is being requested. Those funds would be used from the money that the City has received under the American Rescue Plan.

Members of the Jamestown City Council are expected to discuss the Mayor’s tentative budget during a work session Monday evening.
