FALCONER – A group dedicated to empowering kids with disabilities through sports is rolling out a change of pace in the form of a musical performance.

Exceptional Star Athletics is stepping out of their comfort zone and onto the stage in their first ever choir concert.

Director Rich Bianco believes this will be a good change of pace for his students.

“A lot of times there is a stigma that music and theater is not cool especially if you’re an athlete, and it’s just not the way it is,” stated Bianco.

“I hope that this gets out to all the kids in the local schools,” explained Bianco. “A lot of our buddies here are from Falconer school, and I think this is going to help them be a little more confident trying something different in the future.”

The group is dedicated to providing opportunities for children with special needs. Since their founding, they have hosted several athletic events for children.

Bianco believes that there is more than just athletics in his group’s future as he expands their horizons to music.

“We can do basketball, we can do baseball, but this is something special,” explained Bianco. “We wanted to kind of step out and show that we’re more than just sports, and for me personally it’s just awesome to hear them singing.”

The group’s first ever choirs’ concert is taking place on Saturday, November 20 at 7 p.m. at the Levant Church Sanctuary. For more information, check out Exceptional Star Athletics’ Facebook page.
