NEW YORK – We’re keeping an eye on two big COVID-19 announcements that could come down before the end of the week. First up: boosters.

Pfizer applied for emergency use authorization for its booster for all adults. The FDA says its vaccine advisers will not meet to discuss the matter, which means the decision on authorization could happen any time.

The second issue at hand has to do with Pfizer’s experimental antiviral pill called Paxlovid. The company has applied to the FDA for an EUA.

Reports indicate the White House is finalizing a contract to purchase 10 million doses of the drug, with an official announcement expected as soon as this week.
