FLUVANNA – The Jamestown area police community is asking for donations to help a family impacted by a weekend house fire.

Jamestown Police Detective Matt Kachermeyer’s Townline Road home caught fire on Sunday afternoon.

The Chautauqua Blue Lives Matter Facebook group, an advocate for local law enforcement, says Det. Kachermeyer, his wife, Coreen, and their young twins were not home when the fire occurred, however they lost all their beloved pets and extensive fire and water damage occurred.

Because of the fire’s close proximity to Christmas, the Jamestown Police Department family is asking for monetary donations to help the family.

Community members who would like to make a donation can send the money electronically to @CoreenKachermeyer on Venmo.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigation Team says the fire started on accident after naturally combustible oil soaked in rags inside of a bucket sparked the blaze.

  1. So if it wasn’t a detectives family would it even matter that this happened to them.?!
