JAMESTOWN – Jamestown’s premiere source for television news is celebrating its five-year anniversary.

Western New York News Now was founded on Friday, December 16, 2016 to provide a locally owned, operated and community driven news source for Jamestown, NY.

The mission is to serve underserved communities across the region, delivering a first-class news product to residents in what we call “news deserts.”

Ironically, minutes before the company’s first meeting to formally establish the business, we filed our first news report: a drug raid across the street from Jamestown Police Headquarters.

Supported by local advertisers, today WNY News Now maintains a 24/7 digital newsroom on WNYNewsNow.com and the WNY News Now Mobile App for iOS and Android devices.

In addition, the news team broadcasts a daily newscast on Channel 716 on RokuFacebook Watch, YouTube and Erie News Now Plus. We additionally provide radio news updates on 92 Gold and 104.3 Kinzua Country in Warren, Pa.

Over the summer, our locally owned team formed a partnership with Lilly Broadcasting, strengthening our regional news coverage abilities, working with Erie News Now, among other Lilly stations.

While some lead anchors, reporters and producers at WNY News Now have come and gone, one thing has remained the same over the years: our proud tradition of celebrating the community we serve every day, by telling their stories.

To mark the day, we are asking viewers to join the show and share how you watch our broadcast on social media with the hashtag #LocalFirst. Be sure to tag @WNYNewsNow.
