WEST ELLICOTT – A power transformer explosion was caught on camera Tuesday night in West Ellicott.

Rob Sigler posted the security camera video which captured the event.

The clip shows a transformer explode on a power pole on Fairmount Avenue near the Runnings Store.

Jamestown Board of Public Utilities’ reports power was cut Tuesday evening between 9:39 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. when a fuse cut-out failed, causing a pole-mount transformer to fail.

BPU Employees restored power within approximately two hours. The outage affected about 466 electric customers in the area.
