JAMESTOWN – Even though we are on the verge of Spring, the City of Jamestown is thinking ahead to next winter, purchasing a new sidewalk plow to help with snow removal.

This winter, several residents across the city spoke out about un-shoveled sidewalks which forced pedestrians, many of whom were children traveling to school, to walk in the street.

Since then, several on Jamestown City Council including Councilman At-Large Randy Daversa, have pushed for updated equipment for the Department of Public Works.

In February, the lawmaking group allocated a $890,000 in American Rescue Plan Act lost revenue funds for the purpose of funding the purchase of various vehicles and pieces of equipment, including the new sidewalk plow which officially arrived this week.
