ERIE, Pa. (Erie News Now) – Students at Erie High School this week will return to their classrooms for the first time since a shooting inside a school hallway a month ago.
Students will not all return at once; a phased in process begins Tuesday.
Last week, students and their families had a chance to visit the school for an open house. It was an opportunity to see the upgrades made since the shooting and to ask questions about student safety before in-person classes resume.
The district added dozens more security cameras, made sure all classroom doors can be locked, developed a digital hall pass system and students will have to pass through metal detectors before entering the building.
Seniors return first on Tuesday. Each grade follows on subsequent days until all kids are back in class Friday.
