JAMESTOWN – A woman was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown after reportedly jumping from the Third Street bridge downtown on Monday afternoon.

Those with the Jamestown Police and Fire Departments, along with Celeron Fire Department’s Ambulance, was dispatched to the Chadakoin River along Steele Street around 1 p.m. for a reported jumper who fell into the river below.

Officers told our crew on scene the woman was located on the riverbank, and was “fine,” although was complaining about back pain.

Police went on to say they are continuing to investigate what led up to the supposed jump.

Around 1:30 p.m., she was reported to be conscious and was transported to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital.

A portion of Steele Street that was closed during the incident, was also reopened to traffic.
