JAMESTOWN, NY (Erie News Now) – A western New York dog has a Jamestown Police officer to thank after a water rescue effort over the weekend.

A short video clip posted to social media by Devon Estus shows Officer Jakki Martin-Ahlbin rescuing a dog from the water near Jamestown’s Riverwalk on Saturday.

The clip shows her stepping out of the river then climbing up rocks, carrying the dog in one arm.

Jamestown Police Department posted a message on its Facebook page, which said, “Great job by Officer Ahlbin! We are proud to have a department made up of such wonderful people.”
