Elevated Risk For Wildfire Spread Wednesday

JAMESTOWN – There is an elevated risk for wildfire danger across the Southern Tier on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service office in Buffalo, the combination of very dry air and full sunshine will increase the wildfire threat across the region today.

Humidity values will be as low as 15 to 25 percent, with wind gusts around 15 MPH, which can cause a wildfire to quickly spread.

Officials remind residents the annual statewide Burn Ban remains in place through Saturday, May 14.

Outdoor burning is prohibited through much of the spring season due to very dry brush and ground conditions.
