JAMESTOWN – A 48-year-old Jamestown man is accused of starting a vehicle fire on the city’s eastside.

The Jamestown Fire and Police Departments responded to an eastside establishment around 10:30 p.m. Saturday for a vehicle fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames in the parking lot.

Through an investigation, it is alleged that Luis Lugo intentionally set the fire before fleeing the area.

Lugo, police said, was located a short distance away, attempting to hind from officers in a tree line.

He was taken into custody, and charged with several felonies including arson.

The fire department was able to extinguish the blaze without further spread, however, the vehicle was a total loss. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
