JAMESTOWN (Erie News Now) – American drivers are getting a bit of a break at the pumps this week.

The national average for a gallon of gas is down eight cents from the previous week to $4.80, according to AAA.

Analysts say that’s due to lower demand right now. However, it could change very soon with July being the busiest month during the summer driving season.

Right now, the most expensive gas in the U.S. is in California, Oregon and Arizona.

The least expensive gas is in South Carolina followed by Georgia and Mississippi.

In Chautauqua County, average prices are now $4.78 for a regular gallon of gas.
