POMFRET – A 31-year-old Brocton man was seriously hurt during a car vs. motorcycle crash in Chautauqua County on Saturday.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, along with Fredonia Fire Department, responded to the crash at the intersection of Route 5 and VanBuren Road in the Town of Pomfret around 3:30 p.m.

Following an investigation, deputies report Merritt Wolcott was operating a Suzuki Motorcycle westbound on Route 5 at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear passenger side door of a Toyota Sedan that pulled into the intersection.

As a result of the collision, Wolcott was treated at the scene and airlifted by Stat Medivac to a Pennsylvania hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the sedan, who was identified as 21-year-old Kaitlyn Hill, was not hurt.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
