NEW YORK, N.Y. (WENY) – Starbucks customers may soon have to find another place to use the restroom. The company’s CEO hinted the coffee shop chain may not be able to keep its restrooms open.

Along with other Starbucks officials, interim CEO Howard Schultz said multiple staffers sent in-house reports detailing incidents of drug use by the public on company property.

“We have to harden our stores and provide safety for our people,” Schultz said at a conference. “I don’t know if we can keep our bathrooms open.”

The news comes after Starbucks announced it is shutting down 16 of its stores due to safety-related concerns.

It is unclear when, or if, Starbucks will act on a decision at this time.
