RIPLEY, NY (WNY News Now) – A 58-year-old North East, Pennsylvania man is accused of an overnight physical assault in Chautauqua County

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Sherman Road in the Town of Ripley around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

Following an investigation it is alleged that William Leamer caused physical injury to another person, intentionally damaged their property and physically prevented them from calling 911 for help.

Leamer, deputies report, fled the residence on foot before law enforcement arrived.

K9 Link was deployed, and able to sniff out Leamer’s human odor. The K9 tracked him from the residence to a tall grassy field nearby.

That’s where Leamer was taken into custody. He has since been charged with third-degree assault, two counts of criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Leamer was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment.
