MAYVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – A new program to help those in Chautauqua County properly recycle paint has been launched.

The Chautauqua County Department of Public Facilities announced a partnership with PaintCare on Wednesday.

The nonprofit program will provide sites across the county where households and businesses can recycle unwanted paint, stain and varnish.

Chautauqua County joined the new paint recovery effort as part of a larger statewide program.

There is no cost to residents and businesses when dropping off their unwanted paint for recycling. A small fee on the sale of new paint — called the PaintCare fee — funds all aspects of the program.

Local drop-off locations are posted online at paintcare.org/drop-off-sites. All sites accept up to five gallons per visit.
