ELLERY, NY (WNY News Now) – One person was airlifted to a regional medical center following a Monday morning crash in Chautauqua County.

The accident happened on County Route 380 around 7:30 a.m. in the Town of Ellery.

The Sheriff’s Office tells WNY News Now two vehicles, a Ford Mustang and pickup truck, crashed head-on.

Deputies said it appears the Mustang crossed the center lane striking the truck before crashing off the roadway and into a ditch.

The driver of the Mustang, a male in his 20s, was airlifted to a regional medical center for treatment of his injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck was treated and released at the scene after his airbags deployed.

While an investigation continues, deputies say speed was likely a factor.
