Wanted Jamestown Man Accused Of Assaulting A Police Officer

JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A wanted Jamestown man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer overnight.

The Jamestown Police Department reports 35-year-old Shawn Sobczak was arrested in the area of West Third and Hallock Streets around 3 a.m. Monday.











As officers attempted to place Sobczak into custody on an active arrest warrant, he allegedly became physically aggressive and struck a uniformed police officer in the face with a closed fist.

Following a brief struggle, officers placed Sobczak into custody.

On his person, police allegedly recovered a quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine.









In addition to the warrant, Sobczak now faces several charges, including attempted assault on a police office, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally using drug paraphernalia.
