HARRISBURG, Pa. (Erie News Now) – Polls are open across our region as voters head out to cast their ballot in this year’s midterm election.

The amount of national attention Pennsylvania’s race for U.S Senate and governor have been receiving is an indication of just how much is at stake. This weekend, three U.S. Presidents made stops in Pennsylvania ahead of the high-stakes midterms. President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama rallied in Philadelphia for John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro on Saturday.

“I know Pennsylvania well, and John Fetterman is Pennsylvania. He is Pennsylvania,” said Biden.

“Democracy itself is on the ballot,” said Obama.

Over 200 miles west in Latrobe, Pa, former President Donald Trump rallied for his Republican picks for both U.S. Senate and governor.

“The people of Pennsylvania are going to elect Dr. Mehmet Oz to the United States Senate,” said Trump to hundreds of supporters.

Candidates in both races have been to all corners of the state recently to rally their base and get out the vote. With recent polling showing a near tie in the race for Pennsylvania’s open U.S. Senate seat, it’s safe to assume many eyes will be Fetterman and Oz tomorrow evening.

“We can fix this, but John Fetterman can’t,” said Oz on Saturday. “John Fetterman believes Joe Biden didn’t spend enough money, argued that he should have followed Bernie Sanders more and would have put us trillions more in debt with higher inflation,” Oz added.

“This is one of the biggest races in this nation,” said Fetterman in Philadelphia. “Make sure we send Dr. Oz back across the bridge and send me to D.C. so I can stand and fight for all of you,” Fetterman added.

Trump also campaigned for State Senator Doug Mastriano, who faces a double-digit gap to his Democratic opponent, Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

“You’re going to send the great Doug Mastriano, a terrific man, these are great people, great men, to the governor’s mansion,” said Trump.

Recent polling from FiveThirtyEight shows a tie between Oz and Fetterman and an eleven-point lead for Shapiro.
