RIPLEY, NY (WNY News Now) – A Chautauqua County man faces several drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop and subsequent narcotics investigation this week.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27-year-old Alexander Latta on Tuesday after he was pulled over for an alleged traffic infraction on Burton Road in the Town of Ripley.
Inside his vehicle, police allegedly recovered 70 grams of meth, a digital scale and over $1,400 dollars in crash. In addition, investigators later executed a search warrant at his Potter Road home in the Town of Chautauqua, where deputies recovered an assault rifle featuring a high-capacity magazine loaded with .223 ammunition
Latta faces several charges including criminal possession of a weapon and controlled substance.
A passenger in his vehicle, identified as 31-year-old Megan Herman, was also charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Authorities ask members of the community to call and report suspicious or narcotics related activity within their neighborhoods to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigator’s Tip line at (716) 664-2420.
