Crews Respond To Frewsburg Forest Fire

CARROLL, NY (WNY News Now) – A brush fire spread to a wooded area in the Town of Carroll.

Chautauqua County Fire Dispatch reports several fire departments  responded to the area of Bragg and Elderkin Roads to fight a forest fire. The call first came in around 1 p.m. on Thursday.

At least one person suffered burns as a result of the fire. It’s unclear how flames were sparked, however, law enforcement was requested to the scene.

A medical helicopter was called to airlift the victim, however, has since been called off.

In addition to fire trucks, first responders are used ATVs to gain access to the woods. It appears the fire started as a brush fire, however, has since rapidly developed due to breezy winds in the area.

Furthermore, the rough terrain has caused issues for first responders. A tanker truck was stuck as a result of the terrain.

As of 4:00 p.m. the fire was under control.

This is a developing story and will be updated when more information is available.
