JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A threat lodged against Jamestown High School has been deemed not credible by investigators.
Jamestown Public School’s Superintendent Dr. Kevin Whitaker released the following statement on Thursday:
“Late Wednesday evening, the Jamestown Police Department was made aware of a rumor of a potential safety concern at Jamestown High School.
Prior to the start of the school day, JPD worked together with the high school administration and the district’s school resource officers to fully investigate all leads pertaining to the rumor and determined it not to be credible. Out of an abundance of caution, the department provided a larger-than-usual police presence at the building earlier this morning.
We appreciate the immediate response, investigation, and strong partnership with Jamestown Police to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to take all notifications and information seriously, and will follow up with all resources necessary.
JPS will continue to maintain transparency, and to communicate directly in the case of any situations we hear that may affect our schools.”
