WESTFIELD, NY (Erie News Now) – This weekend is expected to be a busy one across Lake Erie Wine Country, because it’s Harvest Wine Weekends.

It’s the second weekend in a row for it, where local wineries pair food and wine, to highlight the different blends they have.

And while that is going on all throughout the month of November, Johnson Estate Winery in Westfield New York, is honoring Veterans and Active Duty military members with free wine tastings.

Owners Fred and Jennifer Johnson will also donate $2-dollars each time a dry red wine bottle is sold.

It will go towards the EOD Warrior Foundation.

“We also remember my father who founded the winery and who was also a navy aviator in the second World War,” said Fred Johnson, Owner. “And coincidentally on veteran’s day 1994 he single handedly sank a Japanese Destroyer for which he was awarded the distinguished Flying Cross.”

The Johnson’s want to honor their family ties to the Navy. His son is also in the Navy and is currently stationed overseas.
