EDINBORO, Pa. (Erie News Now) – Last week’s historic snow storm is giving one local business owner a big lift.
The owners of the Mount Pleasant Ski Resort of Edinboro took advantage of the conditions to start making snow last Thursday.
It’s the earliest time they ever started making snow at the resort and they turned five million gallons of water into a five foot base. They are halfway towards their goal of making snow.
Doug and Laura Sinsabaugh purchased the resort in 2006 and will employ 120 people when they open on December 16th.
The heavy snowfall last week certainly generated some early interest from local skiers and snowboarders ready to engage in some winter fun.
“It’s exciting we haven’t had a lot of winters that have cooperated as of late so its really nice that mother nature is cooperating early,” said Andrew Halmi, General Manager. “Some good cold weather to start, this is the earliest by almost ten days that we made show.”
The Sinsabaugh’s also purchased a six bedroom home next to the resort and will turn that into a lodge in the summer of 2023.
