DUNKIRK, NY (WNY News Now) – The holiday season officially arrived in Northern Chautauqua County over the weekend.

The City of Dunkirk hosted its “Christmas on Central” event Saturday in an effort to spotlight local businesses and bring the community together.

The day was filled with music, crafts, carriage rides, and of course, a visit from Santa Claus.

Officials ended the day with the much anticipated Christmas tree lighting ceremony in front of City Hall.

Saturday also marked the annual “Small Business Saturday” during which residents were encouraged to shop local.

If you missed the festivities, or you just need a bit more time to get into the holiday spirit, the Village of Fredonia will host its own “Miracle on Main Street” event next weekend for all who are interested.
