JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A 22-year-old Jamestown man faces felony charges following the alleged theft of a dirt bike in Chautauqua County.

New York State Police investigators arrested Cortland Hepfner on Saturday following a month’s long investigation in the Town of Ripley.

Troopers alleged that back in June Hepfner broke a garage window gaining access to a residence and subsequently stealing a Kawasaki dirt bike worth $4,000.

Just a few days later, troopers located the stolen bike in the Town of Dunkirk and returned it to the owner.

While multiple sources named Hepfner as the primary suspect in the burglary, troopers were not able to make an arrest until months later.

Hepfner was ultimately charged with grand larceny, a class D felony and burglary a class C felony.
