SINCLAIRVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old, killed following an altercation in Sinclairville earlier this year.

Cassadaga resident Joseph Misciagno was shot in the area of Park and Reed Streets in early July.  Law enforcement said he died from injuries sustained during treatment at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown.

On Thursday, investigators arrested an unnamed individual believed to be the alleged shooter.

The suspect was arraigned and remanded to jail without bail on charges of first-degree manslaughter, however, deputies said that due to New York State Law, the suspect’s name won’t be released at this time. Our newsroom inquired with Sheriff Jim Quattone for more clarification.

Law enforcement previously told WNY News Now they were relying on the testimonies of around five witnesses to identify the shooter.

Officers say the arrest stems from a lengthy investigation by the Sheriff and DA’s Office.
