JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) — Christmas tree pickup is underway in Jamestown, with local crews outlining the do’s and don’ts of disposing evergreens.

Parks Supervisor Matt Spunaugle tells us that once you are ready to discard your tree, to make sure it has no ornaments or other decorations still attached, and safely set on the terrace between the street and sidewalk

While pickup is just beginning, crews have already gathered over 50 trees, and are expecting to continue until all discarded trees are disposed of.

“Everybody seems to be putting them out by the curb, the way they’re supposed to,“ explained Spunaugle. “No decorations, please don’t put them in plastic bags, or have them covered up, make sure we can see them, make sure they’re visible, and just give us a call when you put them out there so we can get there and pick it up.”

Anyone with questions are urged to contact the Parks and Recreation Office at (716) 483-7523.
