JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A Jamestown manufacturer has suspended operations after over a decade in business and laid off most of their employees this week.
Inscape, formerly Dowcraft, at 15 Tiffany Avenue in Jamestown, gave the news to their employees on Thursday just before noon.
The Canadian based company produced office equipment, like workstations, specialty walls, space dividers, tables, accessories and storage cabinets.
Last October, the company entered a support agreement with Hilco Capital Limited which helped boost capital to a business struggle to adapt with pandemic changes, like remote working, which greatly decreased the number of in-person office spaces nationwide.
According to a press release issued following the corporate structure change, Inscape began exploring strategies to “provide liquidity and consideration to the shareholders” of the business.
WNY News Now reached out to the local plant manager for comment, which was not returned as of publication.
