JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) — A push to bring in out of state snowmobilers is underway in New York.
The first weekend in March registration requirements will be waived for snowmobiling enthusiasts looking to explore the region.
In total, New York State has over 10,000 miles of snowmobile trails for locals and visitors alike to traverse.
Out-of-state and Canadian participants may only operate snowmobiles that are registered in their home municipality. Insurance is also required.
State officials stress that promoting snowmobiling reinforces the importance of tourism to the state and local economies.
