ERIE, Pa. (Erie News Now) — TikTok will introduce a feature to limit screen time for users under 18-years-old.

Minors will be limited to one hour of screen time a day, with a prenatal controlled passcode showing up after their time limit is up.

The feature will be turned on by default for all users registered as under 18, but can be turned off by parents.

“Screen time with kids is a huge issue,” said Matt Wiertel, Director of Sales & Business for Velocity Net, a local I.T. company. “So it’s a step in the right direction, but every parent is going to make their own determination. But we definitely think it’s going to help.”

Wiertel also recommended parental control apps such as Bark to monitor your child’s activity, if necessary.
