NEW YORK, NY (Newsource) – The annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade took place Sunday in Staten Island New York, and like in years past, parade organizers banned LGBTQ+ groups from taking part.

The executive director of the Pride Center in Staten Island called the ban discriminatory and vile.

Pride members held their own parade instead and some city leaders joined in including New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

Catholic leaders weighed in on the controversy saying the parade celebrates Saint Patrick and not sexual orientation.
