Unemployment Rate Records Big Increase In Chautauqua, Cattaraugus Counties

JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – The unemployment rate recorded a big increase in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.

The New York State Department of Labor released an updated jobless report for the month of January.











Statistics reveal the unemployment rates for both counties jumped over a percentage point during the first month of the year.

Specifically in Chautauqua County, the rate was 5.1 percent up from 3.8 percent in December.

Last year at this time, the county’s rate was reported to be 4.8 percent.









Meanwhile in Cattaraugus County, the rate was 5.2 percent in January up from 3.8 last December.

At this time in 2022, the Catt. County rate was 4.8 percent in January.
