BEMUS POINT, NY (WNY News Now) – The redevelopment project of a historic hotel in Chautauqua County has received a tax break to help offset costs of their multi-million-dollar renovation plan.
Earlier this month the new owner of Hotel Lenhart in Bemus Point announced plans to renovate the nearly a century and a half old iconic building.
To aid in the process, the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency approved a Payment-in-Lieu-of-Taxes agreement and tax lease which features a $842,000 tax abatement.
The project was already awarded a $500,000 Al Tech loan to help funding the $9.9 million project.
A rendering of the proposed renno details the construction plans, including a new rooftop patio and elevator access. Plans for a bakery, creamery, heated pool and spa are also in the works.
Last summer it was annoucned a couple with decades experience working in the hospitality industry planned to purhcase the hotel.
