Inmate Violence Surges At This Correctional Facility In WNY

COLLINS, NY (WNY News Now) – Inmate violence towards correctional staff at a state prison facility in Western New York is surging.

Over a half a dozen corrections offers were injured in various incidents at the Collins Correctional facility over the past few months.


According to the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, the most serious attack happened back on April 6.

During the incident, an out-of-control inmate kicked corrections officers multiple times in the stomach and groin area before suffering an apparent drug overdose.

The inmate then passed out before he was revived with Narcan only before coughing and spitting up blood.



A sergeant and five others sustained injuries during the attack. They were treated for bite marks, abrasions, and hip/groin injuries.
