Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin visited Erie on Global Youth Services Day and signed autographs for kids. Hamlin appeared at East Middle School and people were encouraged to bring a toy for Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation.

One kid who received an autograph from Hamlin said, “it was amazing, I was so terrified I almost passed out.”

Another said, “he is a nice guy, it was a fun experience and I enjoyed being at this event.”

Another kid said, “I am glad that he was here and he got to sign my football.”

Edison Nicholson, CEO of the Youth Leadership Institute of Erie said he admires how Hamlin is resilient and never gives up. “That is what needs to be messaged to our young people, no matter what happens you can still get back up,” Nicholson said.

During the event it was also announced that Nicholson will be the new director of the State Elks Association.
