SENECA LAKE, N.Y. (WENY) — Bright and early on Saturday morning, May 6, 2023, King Charles III was officially crowned King of England. Across the pond, this day has been in the works for months on end, since Queen Elizabeth passed away in September 2022. In the Southern Tier, former British citizens found a way to celebrate their country’s historic day.

“We are celebrating the King’s coronation, so, King Charles the Third,” said Seneca Lake Brewing owner Bradley Gillett Obviously the Queen passed away a short time ago, so now it’s time for the king, the new king, King Charles III to actually be crowned and make it official.”
The Royals are dedicated to their titles, duties, giving back to the world and keeping their family name alive. No matter the issue; from Princess Diana’s tragic death to Prince William marrying Kate, the Royals know how to smile and come together on Buckingham Palace’s balcony to say “hello” to the world.  The Monarchy is more than the highest power in England, and they are like family to everyone in England.
“The monarchy in the UK is really a staple for a lot of British people. They are the ones who hold the country together. In turmoil they are always the one there,” added Gillett.
A former British Citizen recalls the day King George VI passed away. He remembers hearing people preach “The King is dead, long live the Queen.”
Imagine hearing the news break, “The King is Dead,” and within no time, a young woman takes the throne. 70 years later the coronation is back, but with a twist. The longest reigning Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away in September of 2022, and the Royals have adapted to 2023’s day and age as they are captured left and right across social platforms and news outlets.
“Over here it has turned into more of a soap Oprea. You know with the various characters,” concluded Dunmore.
Queen Elizabeth was coronated 69 years 11 months and 2 days ago. Her son, King Charles III now takes her spot at the age of 74 alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, 75. Seneca Lake Brewing offers British classic beer on several taps.
