JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Three months ago, Jamestown lawmakers allowed a mobility company to operate an electric bike and scooter rental service in the pearl city. Now lawmakers are asking, where is Bird?
The partnership would allow Bird to operate within the city, with no cost to Jamestown.
Lawmakers expected the electric mobility service to be in operation by the summer season, however according to Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist, the company does not have all of the equipment.
“They are working to find an operator to manage the program here in the city,“ explained Mayor Sundquist. “They believe they’ll have that by the end of the month. Once that happens then we’ll confirm the various locations and drop zones across the city. And then work to provide information to the public on how to roll that program out. So we still have a little ways to go.”
Before city leaders want the program to roll out, both scooters and bikes should be available.
