JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – Police are still searching for 34-year-old Michael Burham after he escaped from the Warren County Jail late Thursday night.
Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies have investigated several tips from the public. One of these tips included alerting police to a residence on Water Street in Warren PA late Friday night where a multi hour stand off ensued, but was ultimately deemed unfounded as the residence was unoccupied.
New York State law enforcement are also investigating a burglary on Friday in the town of Busti that could potentially be connected to the escape. A suspect allegedly broke into a couples home and stole clothing while also killing the home owners dog. The burglary is still under investigation.
The Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, along with local law enforcement have put protections in place for witnesses and victims of the Jamestown homicide in which Burham is a prime suspect, but not yet formally charged.
