LAKEWOOD, NY (WNY News Now) –  A Lakewood man died following a motorcycle crash last Friday.

Police responded to a call about a serious motorcycle crash on Fairmount Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. on July 14.

Upon arrival police discovered that 52-year-old Michael Hart was attempting to make a left turn off of Fairmount Avenue and onto North Green Avenue when he struck a westbound motorcycle in front of local restaurant, Johnny’s Lunch.

Further investigation determined that Hart failed to yield the right of way to the cycle, driven by 65-year-old Richard Burham.

Burham was taken to the Hamot trauma center in Erie, PA where he was treated with life saving measures, but ultimately he succumbed to his injuries.

Hart was cited for his failure to yield the right of way, and is due in the Ellicott Town Court at a later date.
