
BLASDELL, NY (WNY News Now)- Police say one teenager is dead after drowning in a state park lake Monday afternoon.
NYS Troopers responded to Woodlawn State Park for a possible drowning that occurred at the park’s beach.
The incident, which involved two teenage boys, led to the loss of 16-year-old Aiden R. Walden, a young resident of Lackawanna, NY.
At approximately 5:30 P.M., emergency services were called to the scene in response to reports of a potential drowning. According to witnesses, two teenagers had ventured into the waters of the lake for a swim. Tragically, Aiden R. Walden encountered difficulty while in the water and was unable to keep his head above water.
Beachgoers at the scene reacted swiftly, rushing to assist Walden. They managed to pull him out of the water, initiating life-saving measures immediately.
Responding to the emergency call, the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Company arrived at the beach, taking over the rescue efforts. They applied advanced life support techniques in an attempt to revive the young teenager.
Walden was transported to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
