MAYVILLE, NY (WNY News Now) – Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel has been made aware of a scam email posing as the executive and sending emails to contacts.

Several contacts received suspicious emails earlier this week from an account claiming to be the County Executive, with one email asking the recipient to ‘purchase gift cards for county employees as a surprise for their hard work’, stating that Wendel is currently in a meeting and unable to purchase the gift cards himself.

The email account, info.privatemailboard52.us.org@gmail.com, is not and has never been associated with the County Executive, and any emails received from this account should be deleted. It is also best to report the account before deleting.
