JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – In an effort to help our furry friends find their fur-ever homes, WNY News Now has partnered with the Chautauqua County Humane Society in a segment we like to call, Pet of the Week.

This week, we meet Petunia, a cuddly kitty looking for a calm environment with lots of love.

“Petunia is a cat, she’s a female cat, and she’s been with us for, I want to say a couple months now, when she first came in she was very shy, very nervous and a little reserved. We worked with her consistently every single day and eventually her personality came out and her personality is amazing. She is sweet as can be, she wants to cuddle up on your lap or just sit and watch out a window,” said behavior coordinator Allie.

Petunia does great with other cats and staff believe she would do fine with dogs after a slow introduction and older children in a low-energy environment.

“We’re probably hoping for a calmer, more quiet environment for her, I think she would thrive better in that instance but it’s definitely something that we can work through,” Allie said.

Much like most kitties, Petunia loves playtime and even has a favorite activity.

“She’s extremely playful, she loves wand toys. She’s a little nervous with the bubbles, we do bubbles on occasion and she’s definitely interested in them but is definitely a little more reserved. She loves watching birds, she will sit in the window all day and just observe them, sometimes she gets these little chirps going when she sees them, it’s the cutest thing,” said Allie.
