School Districts Collaborate to Share Transportation Supervisor

(WNY News Now) – Jamestown Public Schools, Southwestern Central School District, and Frewsburg Central School have joined hands to share a transportation supervisor for the upcoming 2023-24 school year.

Jamestown – John Spacht, who has successfully overseen Southwestern and Frewsburg transportation since 2021, will lead the collaborative effort.

Under the innovative arrangement, Spacht will allocate his time based on a 40/35/25 ratio: dedicating 40% of his time to Southwestern, 35% to Jamestown Public Schools, and 25% to Frewsburg. In addition, the districts will benefit from the expertise of a shared head bus driver, Roger Bingham, Jr., responsible for training and compliance.

Spacht’s extensive experience, including his previous role as Jamestown Public Schools’ head mechanic, positions him as an ideal leader for this venture. “I am very excited to work with the transportation team at Jamestown again,” Spacht stated, emphasizing his commitment to improving safety and efficiency.

Dr. Kevin Whitaker, JPS Superintendent, praised the partnership’s potential to meet future transportation needs effectively. “We welcome [Spacht] as he brings those talents to JPS and look forward to a long partnership,” he noted.

With a unified vision of enhanced service and resource optimization, the collaboration exemplifies a progressive approach to regional transportation services in the face of driver and mechanic shortages.
