JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY NEWS NOW)- Severe weather and natural disasters are becoming more frequent and more extreme. Because of these events, it is important that the public is prepared for these events.

The New York Citizen Preparedness Training Program teaches residents how to have the tools and resources they need to prepare for any type of disaster, to respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions.

In collaboration with New York State, Jamestown Community College and the Jamestown Police department will be hosting a training session to provide an introduction on how to respond to disasters.

This class is free to attend and will take place on Friday, September 22nd at Jamestown Community College. The event will be held at the Lenna theater in the Hulquist library building.

Participants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster, including developing a family emergency plan, and stocking up on emergency supplies. Each family that attends will receive a Preparedness Kit.

Those interesting in attending can register for free at the link provided.
