Jamestown Man Arrested for Assault and Strangulation


(WNY News Now) – A 40-year-old Jamestown resident, has been arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Strangulation in the 2nd Degree following a disturbing incident in Jamestown.

Jamestown – In the early hours of September 6, 2023, Jamestown Police Department responded to multiple frantic 911 calls from a South side address. Upon arrival, officers encountered a female victim and Randy J. Wright Jr., 40, 0f Jamestown, who was known to have active warrants from the Jamestown City Court.

Wright was apprehended without resistance and transported to the city jail. An investigation revealed that prior to his arrest, Wright had assaulted the female victim by striking her in the face with a pair of keys clenched in his fist. Additionally, he had strangled the victim the previous night, causing her to lose consciousness.


In addition to his existing warrants, Wright now faces charges of Assault in the 2nd Degree and Strangulation in the 2nd Degree. He is being held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Court.
