WNY News Now – Troopers responded to a 9-1-1 call for a mental health incident on Monday, which led to the arrest of a suspect who possessed firearms without proper permits.

42-year-old Kara Halmstad of Clarence, NY was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon after authorities discovered two pistols in her possession. Halmstad did not possess a New York State Pistol Permit.

The guns in question were a Ruger EC9S pistol and a Heritage Rough Rider .22 caliber pistol, along with two high-capacity magazines.

Halmstad was taken into custody and transported to SP Clarence, but was later released on an appearance ticket.
